Other Internet Spam

Email spam is just the most well known form of spam that affects the Internet. Spam can be found in places such as on instant messaging, newsgroups and chat rooms. As Rafe's Law states: “An Internet service cannot be considered truly successful until it has attracted spammers.”

Spam on usenet newsgroups.
Instant messaging and chat rooms suffer from link spammers.
Users of unprotected Windows PCs will have experienced pop-up spam.
Message boards, blogs, guestbooks and referrer logs are all targets of web spammers.
Fake results returned to file sharing queries are used to push products.
So far theoretical, this could herald an explosion in voice spam.
Another platform, another opening for spam.
